Sand fun

Are you looking to hold on to a little more of the summer before letting it go? Why not take the kids and play at the beach for a while.

Nothing like a beach dump truck to tote all of the good down to the water to build a sand castle, or for those who just aren't that good at it just making pretty shapes in the sand, or the classic burying your child or them burying you in the sand.

Lot of fun from the truck who comes with a little driver, 3 sand tools, and 4 sand molds. Will keep your child occupied and lets summer live on just a bit longer.

When the pool is closed

Here in Ny after Labor day the outdoor pool is closed so how do our kids cool off? With water guns of course. One of my favorite ways to stay cool even being 43. Of course now I can't run after the kids but I can sit and wait for them to run by to get them with mine.

I found this water gun to be a little heavy in the back but it did shoot well, and soon became a new favorite in our home. We haven't had a new water gun in a long time. We had a huge set we bought years ago with enough for my whole childcare so I think we had around 15 of the same gun. Sadly 13 years later we were down to our last one and didn't even know where to start to look for a new set of water guns.

Even though I like this one it is a bit awkward for my 7 year old daughter and granddaughter so the search is still on for the perfect family water gun that is comfortable for both children and adults. Until then this one is mine. Ok back to the game.

GAME ON!

Mac & Cheese in the Crock Pot Marksville Style

I have been looking for a great Crock Pot Mac & Cheese for quite some time, and I think I came up with our own from looking at many recipes and finding out most left my macaroni like mush but this one I took a little from here, a little from there and finally settled on the below recipe.
Mac & Cheese in the Crock Pot Marksville Style
1 lb of  elbow macaroni uncooked
8 oz of shredded cheddar cheese
1 8oz block of cream cheese cut into cubes
4 cups of milk
First spray your crock pot with non stick spray
Add in uncooked macaroni, milk, chunks of cream cheese, then shredded cheddar cheese, give a quick stir if you like but we didn't stir ours until ready to serve and it came out well.
I did this on low for 4 hours in my 5 quart  crock pot. We didn't add any salt and pepper but if you like you can.
Our family likes the little crispy edges which this does for us. I will update with a picture the next time I make it. It was gobbled up that fast which means it is a keeper.

Bento Style Lunch Anyone?

The first time I saw a Bento box was in the movie Breakfast Club, and then again at my old friend's house, she was Asian and this is how her mother packed her lunches. Now with Bento Style lunches being all of the rage and a really fun way to get your children to eat healthy, try new eats, as well as having a well balanced meal, this might be something you could do to liven up your child's lunch.

Love the colors although my daughters were wondering where the pink and purple colors were so maybe Sunsella and other companies will come up with some that are more geared to colors children like hint, hint.

I like how there are different size compartments so you can have food that doesn't touch. I have a daughter who doesn't like her food to touch at all and this helps with in that department. My girls also like to help plan their meals.

Our children do eat lunch through the school most days but there are days that they have field trips, do not like the options or just want to take something a little extra special from time to time. I am not really good at making the lunches really cute, being a mom with Fibromyalgia that is just a bit much to ask, but just being able to separate the food and add color to the box amps up the love of what is provided enough for my girls to gobble their lunches down.

I use silicone cupcake liners to section off bigger spots for fair like snacks. Grapes, crackers, cheese, dip, etc. There are tons of ideas online, so making a lunch that is both fun and nutritional is only a search away.

No more messy floors

Our family has several cats, a Saint Bernard, and a beta fish. We are always on the lookout for items to make feeding, caring, and cleaning up for our pets easier for everyone. The Snug Pet feeding mat was a good choice.

I thought at first we would use this for our Saint Bernards food dishes, but alas even though this is very large, it is not large enough for her bowls. This would be great for normal size dog dishes though.

In our home we are using this for under our cat dishes because it works for their dishes as well, and much better than our super large dishes that our Saint Bernard currently uses. For now we are back to putting down a kitchen slice rug under her bowls, so the search continues for a mat for our Saint's dishes.

This mat is super easy to clean when soiled, hold both solid and liquid spills. My family loves that we don't have to sweep up little pieces of cat food, or spills from them lapping their water. This mat is 19 inches by 12 inches.

You can find the Sung Pet feeding mat on Amazon.
