Recently I was able to view Lost on a Mountain in Maine a true story based on the book of the same name written by Donn Fendler and produced by Balboa Productions. It is a movie about Boy vs Nature. When Donn gets separated during a tense moment during their hike he finds himself in a nine-day fight for his life. Nine days take a boy on a journey that most thought would end in peril. You have to see it to believe what happens. This movie comes out on November 1st. Check out the trailer below.

My Penguin Friend

This is a sponsored post on behalf of Review Wire Media for Roadside Attractions.

Only in Theaters August 16th, 2024

When I saw the trailer for this months ago I knew I needed to see it. A great family film that most people will enjoy. My daughter's favorite animal is the Penguin so I know she will enjoy this as much if not more than myself. I am lucky to be able to work with this company and spread the word about a great film that will grab the hearts of many.

I won't lie I cried a few times during this film. It is always amazing how much an animal can move your emotions. It is such a great movie, with great storytelling, and the best part it is based on a true story that I find both amazing and wonderful. My Penguin Friend is the best family movie I have seen this year.

 About My Penguin Friend:

(International star Jean Reno) has turned away from the world in the wake of tragedy. But when he discovers a penguin drifting alone in the ocean, drenched in oil from a spill, his first instinct is to help. To his wife's (Oscar nominee Adriana Barraza) dismay, he rescues the sea creature and takes the flightless bird under his wing. For the first time in years, João starts to feel joy, even if he cannot fathom just how unbreakable a bond is being formed. When the penguin suddenly disappears back into the immense wilds of the ocean, João believes it is impossible that he will ever see his friend again. But thousands of miles away, the penguin is caught in misadventures, determined to use his unique GPS-like powers to find his way back to the place he now considers home. Based on an emotional true story that riveted the world and filmed on the spectacular coasts of Brazil and Argentina, My Penguin Friend is a tale that traverses the magic of the ocean, the beauty of nature, and the transformative power of love.

Irena's Vow

This is a sponsored post on behalf of Review Wire Media for Quiver Distribution

Read my disclosure policy here

I am so excited to tell my readers about Irena's Vow coming out April 15th and 16th to a theater near you https://www.fathomevents.com/events/irenas-vow/ . I had no idea this movie was coming out till I was contacted. Anyone who knows me, knows I have a big interest in the WWII era to be more specific about what happened to the people who were, being tortured, running, or hiding for their lives, and those who stood up trying to make a difference.

This movie is a true story about a nurse who sees a tragedy and vows that she will save a life when she can. Irena's Vow checks the boxes for suspense, reality, tears, compassion, thrills, dark times, and a will to survive. This time in our history can never be forgotten and each time a movie or book comes out it will tell the future children and adults to never let this happen again. Irena's Vow reminds me of how much a human can endure during hard times.

I have many favorite books and movies about WWII and Irena's Vow has now joined the ranks in a movie that needs to be seen.

About IRENA'S VOW:

IRENA’S VOW is told through the eyes of strong-willed, 19-year-old Irena Gut Opdyke, and represents the triumphs of the human spirit in a time of devastating tragedy. Irena is promoted to housekeeper in the home of a highly respected Nazi officer when she finds out that the Jewish ghetto is about to be liquidated. Determined to help Jewish workers, she decides to shelter them in the safest place she can think of - the basement of the German Major’s house. Over the next two years, Irena used her wit, humor, and courage to hide her friends until the end of the German occupation, concealing them amid countless Nazi parties, a blackmail scheme, and even the birth of a child. Her story is one of the most inspiring of our time.

Freud’s Last Session Review

Recently I was able to view Freud's Last Session and found it quite interesting. It is a nice look at what both might have said to each other if they had actually met and debated over the existence of God. For me, I have strived to learn about God my whole life, and then I was introduced to Freud in College during psychology classes. It is interesting to see both of their debates, speeches, and writings going against each other in this movie. Of course, for me, it was also set in my favorite part of history as well. Take a look at the trailer below.

On the eve of the Second World War, two of the greatest minds of the twentieth century, C.S. LEWIS and SIGMUND FREUD converge for their own personal battle over the existence of God. FREUD’S LAST SESSION interweaves the lives of Freud and Lewis, past, present, and through fantasy, bursting from the confines of Freud’s study on a dynamic journey. PG-13

Today Captain Marvel hits the shelves and with that if you are into collecting or just want a really cool edition check out the Collectible SteelBook which includes custom box art that can only be found at Best Buy

In our family we have always been big Super Hero movie, comic book, and show fans. I know Marvel has been really flooding the screens with their movies lately and we are loving it. Check out The Collectible SteelBook at Best Buy and join in the fun.

My husband really likes the SteelBook format for media like this because the cases are more durable and support a nice artistic design that isn't always found on the standard box form. Below you can see pictures of what you will get in the SteelBook format.

Making Babies

I was recently able to view Making Babies thanks to Huber Bros. Productions so that I could give my honest opinion of the movie. Both my husband and myself are avid movie viewers. We loved them growing up, our first date was at a movie theater, our children grew up going to movie theaters as a family, and us for date nights, we even worked for a movie theater before, we enjoy seeing movies as often as we can, we even quote movie scenes in daily life when they fit the part.

I viewed this movie on my own and I went through a roller coaster of emotions. It could be my age I happen to be 46 going on 47 but I hit happiness, hope, joy, sadness, excitement, and utter amusement to name a few. This movie deals with real issues of struggling to have a baby before your time runs out and making choices with health insurance, finances, dreams, all while family, friends, and everyone in between is giving you advice on how to do it.

There is humor. I didn't find it gut breaking humor but it is there in a sweet way and sometimes strange way at least to me. I encourage those who are struggling to have a baby to watch this movie as well as those who aren't struggling so they know the other side and what their friends, neighbors, and not so good friends might be going through.

Coming from someone who had an easy time having children it really opened my eyes and I hope it will for you too. It isn't always easy to have children. Sometimes it is a struggle from the very beginning, but can be so worth it.

Is it a chick flick? Yes I guess it is, but if you are trying to get pregnant it is also a couples flick, so fellas give it a chance. By the way you would want to miss the funny scenes with guys in it anyways so go along just for that if not for anything else. See ladies I had you covered. wink wink So I hope you enjoy it as much as I did check out the trailer below and let me know what you think.

Distribution Company: Huber Bros. Productions
In Theaters: March 29th
Directed & Written by: Josh Huber
Starring: Eliza Coupe, Steve Howey, Bob Stephenson, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Ed Begley Jr, and
the late Glenne Headly

Katie and John Kelly (Eliza Coupe and Steve Howey) are ready to settle down and have kids but
five years later, all they have to show for their efforts is a mountain of negative pregnancy tests
and an increasingly elaborate home micro-brewing rig, which John hopes will launch his
company.  As they run out of traditional options and their window closing, the couple explores
the daunting world of medical, spiritual, and homeopathic methods to conceive a child. With an
ensemble cast that also includes Bob Stephenson, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Ed Begley Jr., Jon Daly,
and the late Glenne Headly, MAKING BABIES puts a couple through the ringer of modern
