Paperless Cards done Right

In our home we are getting ready for school to start after Labor Day here. As exciting as that is, it also reminds me of how close the Holidays are, the Birthdays, and that I want to make time for our whole family to get together from time to time. With more and more people using the internet as their main way to communicate, I have found that getting all of my kids together in one place takes time, and flipping of schedules to accommodate some dates.

Holidays for our family is a given but as a mom I love to see my kids and grand children on a much more regular basis. So finding this awesome site Paperless Post, I was able to make a Family Game night date for the whole year and invite my children in advance. The date and time are set and it goes out to them to their emails. So they can mark they will attend or won't attend with a click of a button.

While at Paperless Post I also put together my youngest daughters Birthday Invitation which will go out closer to her birthday. She wanted a sleep over with just her girl friends this year and from what I can remember this is about the age all of the other girls had theirs too, so I found a really nice set up and just put in our information and had a really nice invitation that she loved.

This site is quick and easy to use, when you sign up you get a few coins in order to make some really nice invitations, and don't worry there are plenty of awesome FREE invitations, birthday cards, etc to choose from, it is your choice. You can also add coins in which to make cards by using your credit card.

I am really excited about this new source to use and I know my Earth loving Vegan Daughter will also love this site. She is all about saving the Earth and learns each day about a new way to do it. Love My Paddle Brushes

As soon as I could buy my very own brush I ditched the nylon brushes my mother used for boayears on my hair for boars bristle or Paddle Brushes. Paddle Brushes are my favorite by far and this one from BeautyFrizz is awesome because it is eco friendly with a wood handle which means when it someday breaks down it won't take as long to break down in the earth.

I love Paddle brushes for the fact that they go through my tangles easily and always leave my hair at it's best. I don't get my hair trimmed or styled very often but when I do I almost always told that my hair is really healthy for going so long without a haircut. My haircuts are usually a year or more apart.

Colorful Reuseable Straws

While preparing food it is always a good idea to have a cutting board for a few reasons. First of all it protects your table, or counter from damage, and second it makes for a far easier during clean up time. I like that I can use both sides. I use the second for putting out a cheese spread for get togethers.

Manicure with Glass?

I have been in need for a new manicure stick so when this popped up I was really excited to try a new way to keep my cuticles healthy. Knowing it was glass kind of made me wonder but I have had glass nail files and have loved them at least until my girls borrowed them never to see them again. I am taking they worked well that is why I didn't see them again. So with that said I gave it a whirl with dry skin first which was ok but I like my cuticles worked on better while wet so I usually work on my cuticles while relaxing in the bath.

This is my first bamboo toothbrush. There really is nothing different about the use or results of this toothbrush other then being better for our earth. As in it will break down faster then a plastic toothbrush. This I like.  Trying to be more green as a family is something we have been implementing since we were young parents years ago. Some years are better then others, but little changes make for a big changes over time.

Our new green step is to use reusable product bags instead of using the plastic bags at the store. So far so good and many people have asked me where I got them from so here I am letting everyone know.

Healthy cleaning

We have been using less chemicals in our home and these glass bottle have been a helping hand. Composting Made Easy

We compost our products, from kitchen waste, dryer lint, newspapers, leaves, garden plants at the end of the season, etc. With that we have been building a compost pile which we use for our garden.
Most people who compost will have a bowl or container on their kitchen counter or somewhere near to store their compostable products.

In the summer months you deal with fruit flies, smells, etc if the bowl or container is not emptied out daily or washed. Our daughter would usually take out the bowl when it was pretty much overflowing which in the summer she would be reminded with fruit flies, and a very yucky smell.

When I saw this compost pail we just had to give it a try. and try it we did. Heaven pure heaven. Has a pretty big area for storage so it can last a few days depending on kitchen use, a sturdy handle for carrying it back and forth to the compost pile. No more broken handles from the ice cream containers we were using.

This also has a top that keeps out the fruit flies and other crawlies. It has a charcoal filter which keeps smells pretty much none existent. I love that it has a top because now my daughter knows if the top doesn't fit on then it needs to be emptied. No more overflowing bowls on my counter.

Bento Style Lunch Anyone?

The first time I saw a Bento box was in the movie Breakfast Club, and then again at my old friend's house, she was Asian and this is how her mother packed her lunches. Now with Bento Style lunches being all of the rage and a really fun way to get your children to eat healthy, try new eats, as well as having a well balanced meal, this might be something you could do to liven up your child's lunch.

Love the colors although my daughters were wondering where the pink and purple colors were so maybe Sunsella and other companies will come up with some that are more geared to colors children like hint, hint.

I like how there are different size compartments so you can have food that doesn't touch. I have a daughter who doesn't like her food to touch at all and this helps with in that department. My girls also like to help plan their meals.

Our children do eat lunch through the school most days but there are days that they have field trips, do not like the options or just want to take something a little extra special from time to time. I am not really good at making the lunches really cute, being a mom with Fibromyalgia that is just a bit much to ask, but just being able to separate the food and add color to the box amps up the love of what is provided enough for my girls to gobble their lunches down.

I use silicone cupcake liners to section off bigger spots for fair like snacks. Grapes, crackers, cheese, dip, etc. There are tons of ideas online, so making a lunch that is both fun and nutritional is only a search away.
