AUDREY'S CHILDREN tells the untold true story of visionary British physician Dr. Audrey Evans, who burst onto the scene in 1969 as the first female Chief of Oncology at the world-renowned Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Battling sexism, medical conventions, and the subterfuge of her peers, Evans developed the first Neuroblastoma Staging System, co-founded the first Ronald McDonald House for families of patients, and, ultimately, impacted the lives of millions of children and families around the world. When Dr. Evans started her work, only 10 % of children with cancer survived, now nearly 80% survive. Rated PG. https://www.audreyschildren.com/

My review of No Address

2/28/2025

The movie No Address is so important for many reasons. Personally, our family has been homeless twice. The first time was because the owners of the house we were renting were not paying their mortgage, the second time because my husband fell at work and was injured so he could not work anymore, and in between when workman's comp ended and disability started up we had run through all of our savings and ended up homeless for 18 months. You don't always have to have a mental issue, drug addiction, or alcohol problem before homelessness can happen to you.

I find that many people are really just a paycheck away from being homeless. The need in our own area alone is large. There is not enough low-income housing available for those who need it. Right now we are renting after being homeless for 18 months. We have been in our rental for 8 years and it just sold to someone from the city who wants to gut it and I am sure raise the price much higher than most in our area can afford.

You may ask what happens to us. Well, the cold fact is we are scared to death because there is no housing available for the amount we have coming in, and even with outside help they want the rent to be lower than what is available in our area and nearby areas. There needs to be change not only for support for those with problems but for those who live on fixed incomes and can not afford the rent that apartments and houses currently have.

No Address really hit upon many aspects of why people become homeless and didn't end with everyone having a great outcome after all was said and done, but it did give hope that things can change and get better. People just need to work together to make sure change happens so that everyone has access to a home to call their own.

What No Address did not show was how hard it is to get housing when you have little, or no income and you are faced with being homeless much less the credit rating most landlords ask for and want before they will approve you even if you make enough for the rent.

It did not show how much these agencies that help get you into housing allow for housing and how much higher the market is making it almost impossible to find housing at the amount they allow. It did not show the frustration of finally getting help to find out you can't find housing within the price of the help given. What is needed countrywide is more low-income housing.

This movie was a start. Hope to see more movies made about this topic but delve more into the complexities of the process. Until then lets work together to make the world a better place for everyone.
