Stocking up on Food

Our family believes in stocking on on great deals not only to save money but to stock up for rough times ahead. For us that might mean having enough food so that we can pay for a repair on our vehicle, or for a time between when a job ends and another starts, or worse when money has stopped or come near a stand still and you might need the help of Social Services.

Some people like Survivalists and Doomsday preppers stock up more with foods that are shelf stable for many years. With Valley Food Storage their products last up to 25 years on the shelf. Some might even be more more but I am basing my evaluation on the Enchilada Beans & Rice which we were able to try.

All you need to do is bring 5 and 1/2 cups of water to a boil and cook for 10-15 minutes, to provide enough food for 5 servings. Talk about awesome. Great for back packers, campers, or just to have on hand in case of an emergency.

I feel better having a little extra in our home so that I can insure we can get through most rough patches that might come along the way. I am even more excited to see products like this that are made in the USA and are here to help us make it through those rough times be in a few hours, days, weeks, months, or years.
